Control is an important part of empowerment. It isn't something negative, but the ability a person has to directly influence some aspect of their life. In order to lead full, healthy lives most people need to have some sense of control. While none of us can control everything, knowing that we have the ability to adapt to circumstances, create changes, and have influence in the overall direction of our life helps us to feel secure and inspires actions which often lead to more aligned circumstances.
These two videos discuss the topic of control including the internal and external locus of control and how to focus attention on the things in your life that you can control rather than spending energy and anxiety on things you have no control over.
